Goals
To explore the possibilities, and help bring them about - for a new kind of economy and society using the human life cycle as a design template, paying attention to history, and dealing with the issues of governance under conditions of complexity.
I'd like to build on what i was taught by my teachers, Wilson Parkhill, David Kreps, Richard Feynman, Paul Feyerabend, Karl Popper, Jean Piaget, Thomas Kuhn, Jerry Lettvin, Erik Erikson, Erich Fromm, Michael Maccoby, Doug Englebart, Richard Rorty, and through the printed page, Erich Voegelin, Martha Nussbaum, Theodore Zeldin, Fredrick Law Olmstead, Kenneth Burke, Ernst Cassirer and a host of guiding angels.. and a few Institutions: Collegiate School, Caltech, Berkeley, Harvard, Mexican Psychoanalytic, Washington Schol of Psychiatry, Forum on Psychaiatry and the Humanities, Western Behavioral Sciences Institute, and the State of the World Forum. Can I ever repay?
Human development above all, to explore our species by playing it, the Stradivarius of animals. To be humane, easy, in tune, aware, walk lightly, realize talents in this life, give back, see the intrinsic responsiveness of each person, remembering the bright eyes of every child and how many go dark I've seen it. You have seen it.
- Listen carefully, try to be of use, and take my recreation in the arts - Confucius
- Study the masters, not the pupils - Neils Abel
- Ours is an age of many illusory responsibilities and very few real ones- Simone Weil
- We are taught to break problems down into smaller pieces to solve them. Wrong. Most problems can only be solved by making them larger, because the forces that create them are outside normal perceptions. dc.
The Project
Framing how we work and live.
How do cultures change, because if this one doesn't we are in trouble. What is quality of life across the life cycle?
What is human nature?
This is an inner dialog, as part of a much larger dialog among colleagues and strangers.
